So, did you know that if pregnant women don’t eat regularly, they will pass out?  I had heard this, but didn’t figure it applied to me.  Why, I don’t know.  And that’s how I found myself in the grocery store checkout lane with tunnel vision.  So as not to actually faint, I sat down on the floor.  How ridiculous is that?  Mind you, as soon as I thought that I would be able to make it to my car and sit there I was out of the store.  Luckily, it’s about -5 degrees here today, so the cold air helped perk me up, and it didn’t take long for me to feel better.  Whew.  But talk about embarrassing!  I think I freaked the carry out guy too.  Oops!  I guess lesson learned.  Eat regularly, and ESPECIALLY if I’m going to go shopping.

Well…..if you’re anxious to leave 2008 behind, you’re going to have to wait a little longer.  One second longer that is.  So, don’t be too anxious to turn those calendars!  Have a Happy and Safe New Year’s Eve!

So, while my morning sickness has gotten way better, it is still hanging around.  I am grateful not being nauseated all day, every day.  However, I do puke on a pretty regular basis still.  The only thing is that now I have little warning.  Awesome.  What frustrates me the most however, is that there isn’t much food that appeals to me.  I love canned pears, mandarin oranges, and tropical fruit salad.  I’ve been diggin’ the bbq meatballs lately, and chicken noodle soup.  It’s just frustrating not knowing what I want to eat.  Argh.  This too shall pass.  It’s just a pain in the meantime.  I’m glad that I have a happy baby thus far.  I had an OB appt about a week and a half ago.  I was convinced that we wouldn’t hear the heartbeat.  But we did.  Guess I’m a little more paranoid than I thought.  It also turns out that I now have a heart murmur.  This is totally normal in pregnancy, however since it’s a new finding for me, I get to have an echocardiogram (aka ultrasound of the heart).  

Christmas was good.  It’s my favorite holiday.  I absolutely love getting together with all the family.  I was lucky in that I got put on call on Christmas Eve and didn’t get called into work.  Yippee!  We got our first big baby item…..a bassinet.  I love it!  I’d put it together, but I fear if I did the cats would think it’s theirs.  So, we’ll wait until I’m closer to my due date.

And sits in the hall

A patient in triage

So we rush with a gurney
And race to the back
The O.R. is dirty
Not one section pack

I dropped to my knees

When I heard the bells jingle
And looked toward the sky

He had six smiling nurses
The day shift is here!

I’m so excited because I’ve been trying to keep a secret for about 12 weeks. You see, I’m going to be an Auntie! Yippee! My sister April is having a baby a week after me! I’m so excited that we can do this together. Here’s the new momma to be (and her sweet hubby)…..

   So tonite is supposed to be the biggest and brightest full moon of the year.  I hope you can all check it out!  I have to work, so I probably won’t see it.  Maybe on my way to work.  I hate to think of the chaos that might greet me tonite……..ugh.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
